The Editor of this site journalist-writer and human rights defender Jahangir Alam Akash has made investigative report on extra judicial killings, corruption, minority oppression and militancy in DW Radio German, CSB News (first 24 hours news TV channel in Bangladesh) and an oldest Bengali newspaper of Bangladesh the daily Sangbad. Akash is an active journalist since 1989. Akash was introduced human rights journalism in Bangladesh. He is the first journalist in Bangladesh who did investigative journalism on extra judicial killings. Only for his professional activities he has obtained huge enemies from different sectors such as an Army, Rapid Action Battalion-RAB, militants and from some corrupt political influentials. So, he was illegally arrested, tortured and detained for 28 days by army-RAB in 2007.
They (RAB) wanted to kill him in the name f so called crossfire. But, by the national and international intervene (especially by the helped of Asian Human Rights Commission, Amnesty International, Pen International, CPJ, RSF, IFJ, IPI, IEFX, GHRD, BRCT, BFUJ, CDA etc.) Akash has got his second life. RAB was tortured him in front of his little child, wife, and the owner of rental house where he was living during the arresting time. They (Rapid Action Battalion-RAB) gave him electric shock, and hung him (for 15 hours) with the ceiling and they also blind folded (for 15 hours) him by a black Mask. They were implicated him with several false, fabricated and political motivated charges. Now he has been living in an exile life in Europe.
He was broughtout from Bangladesh in 2009 and came to Germany. After his horriable persecution he has wrote seven books on militancy, extra judicial killings, corruption, minority oppression, human rights violation, press freedom, state torture, Indigenous oppression and freedom of speech. He was paralyzed physically, mentally, socially, economically after brutal persecution. He has lost his dignity also. His latest book is “PAIN” has been published from USA (http://www.amazon.de/Pain-Jahangir-Alam-Akash/dp/1456858025).
